Our Story

Uptown Sound was started by local business owners and residents with a simple vision: to bring our community together through music, culture, and connection while supporting the local businesses and people who make Uptown Montclair so special.

What started as a small idea quickly grew into something much bigger. In just a few months, with the incredible support of our board, local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and neighbors, we raised over $70,000 to bring that vision to life.

We put that support right back into our community, starting with our Summer Stages, bringing live music to Uptown Montclair on Friday nights and encouraging people to come out, enjoy the neighborhood, and support our local businesses.

Then came our biggest project yet: the Uptown Sound Music Festival, a free community celebration that brought thousands of people to Uptown Montclair for a day filled with live music, culture, diversity, and connection.

And the impact didn't stop when the music ended. We were also proud to make a donation to Friends of Anderson Park, helping preserve and beautify the park, including planting trees that support local wildlife and keep this beautiful space thriving for generations to come.

None of this would have been possible without the people who believed in us. Every sponsorship, donation, volunteer, artist, and attendee helped turn an idea into something real.

And we're just getting started.

Our hope is to continue bringing music and people together, creating more opportunities for our local businesses, giving back to our community, and making Uptown Sound a tradition that Montclair looks forward to year after year.
